Available Squad - Mannus, Maybury, Wright, McCracken, MacKay, Morris, Anderson, Croft, Craig, Millar, Sheridan, Robertson, Sandaza, Oyenuga, Gray, Keatings, Enckelman, Compton, Riordan

Probable XI : Mannus, MacKay, McCracken, Wright, Maybury, Croft, Morris, Craig, Millar, Sandaza, Sheridan (4-4-2)

Prediction : Celtic 3-1 St Johnstone

It's amazing how often when teams are in a position like Celtic are where it is only a matter of time till they are crowned champions they end up limping over the line with a few lame performances. I have noticed that their choke in the diddy cup final affected them and ultimately cost them the chance to record a title win at Ibrox. Question is have they slumped back into that iffy form they showed mid season before they went on their great run?

St Johnstone have really been playing well recently and are unbeaten in their last 6 leagues games. But can't really look past the H2H - last 17 played, Celtic have won 16, St Johnstone have won once!

Neil Lennon was sent to the stands and made to look a bit of a dick at Ibrox last week to be honest so I reckon he will have his troops primed and ready for a decent home win here.

With this in mind I will have a pop at the Celtic -1.5 Asian Handicap @ 2.15 (Victor Chandler)

PS - As it is April Fools day special mention goes to Derek "Rearend" Riordan who has signed till the end of the season onloan, following not being able to handle playing in China. Wee stat that surprised me about him though is that he is actually the 3rd all time SPL highest goalscorer........he should be on the bench for this match.

Inverness v Hibs

Inverness

Injuries - A. Shinnie, Hogg
Available Squad - Tuffey, Tokely, Golobart, G Shinnie, Tansey, Foran, Tudur Jones, Tade, Gnakpa, Sutherland, McKay, Winnall, Ross, Proctor, Morrison, Williams, Mathieson, Meekings, Hayes, Doran, Gillett,
Piermayr
Probable XI - Tuffey, Piermayr, Tokely, Golobart, Shinnie, Tansey, Tudor-Jones, Foran, Sutherland, Tade, McKay (4-4-1-1)

Hibs

Injuries - Murray, Scott (getting released)
Available Squad - Stack, Francomb, Hanlon, McPake, Stephens, Booth, Wotherspoon, Stevenson, Doyle, Claros, Kujabi, O'Donovan, Doherty, O'Connor, Griffiths, Soares, Brown, Towell, Galbraith, Sproule, Osbourne

Probable XI : Stack, Francomb, Hanlon, McPake, Kujabi, Osbourne, Soares, Sproule, Galbraith, Griffiths, O'Connor (4-4-2)

Prediction : Inverness 1-1 Hibs

Bit of pressure is off Hibs with Dunfermline losing today, so they know any sort of a result is a further step to premier survival. Trying to predict the Hibs starting XI nowadays is a nightmare. They are like an episode of the raggy dolls, with many rejects........lol The manager seems to chop and change his lineup every week and has been coined with the nickname "Fenloan" because of the amount of loan duds he has brought in. Inverness have only 1 home win this year so I just can't trust them to do the business and backing the dirty Hibees certainly doesn't appeal. Will have a shot at Both Teams to Score here @ 1.8 (bet365)

SPL - Saturday 31st March Team News‏ & thoughts

Motherwell v Rangers

Motherwell

Injuries - Craigan, Saunders
Available squad - Randolph, Hateley, Hammell, Hutchinson, Clancy, Jennings, Carswell, Humphrey, Law, Lasley, Higdon, Ojamaa, Murphy, Page, McHugh, Forbes, Daley, Cummins, Hollis

Probable XI - Randolph, Hately, Hutchison, Clancy, Hammell, Jennings, Law, Lasley, Murphy, Ojamaa, Higdon (4-4-2)

Rangers

Injuries - McCabe, Naismith
Suspended - Bocanegra
Available Squad - McGregor, Whittaker, Papac, Wallace, Kerkar, Goian, Davis, McCulloch, Aluko, Little, Edu, Lafferty, Bedoya, Perry, Mitchell, Alexander, Healy, Hegarty

Probable XI - McGregor, Whittaker, Goian, Perry, Papac, Aluko, Davis, McCulloch, Wallace, Edu, Lafferty (4-5-1)

Prediction : Motherwell 0-1 Rangers

Rangers seem to have one battle after another of late. But they are always at their best when challanged. I was right to Lay celtic last week and I reckon a Rangers win here is great value. Rangers are getting back to full strength and having Whittaker back is a huge benefit. Motherwell have been a bit hit or miss for the last couple of months and I think they might bottle a pressure game like this. Rangers to win @ 2.25 (Ladbrokes) Certainly value as without all Rangers woes this price would have been about 1.7 or lower in my reckoning.

Dundee Utd v Dunfermline

Dundee Utd

Injuries - Watson, Lacny, Severin (retired)
Available squad - Pernis, Dillon, Gunning, Neilson, Kenneth, Dixon, Douglas, Armstrong, S Robertson, Ryan, Flood, Mackay-Steven, Rankin, Russell, Daly, Dow, Banks

Probable XI - Pernis, Dillon, Gunning, Dixon, Neilson, Flood, Robertson, Rankin, Mackay-Steven, Russell, Daly (4-4-2)

Dunfermline

Injuries - Barrowman, Phinn, Bell, Gallacher
Available Squad - Smith, McMillan, Keddie, Boyle, Mason, Cardle, Hardie, Kirk, Graham, Buchanan, Thomson, Dowie, McCann, Kerr, Hutton, Willis, McDougall, Goodfellow, Rutkiewicz, Burns

Probable XI - Smith, Mcmillan, Keddie, Dowie, McCann, Graham, Hardie, Cardle, Mason, Kirk, Buchanan (4-4-2)

Prediction : Dundee Utd 2-0 Dunfermline

Jim Jeffries is now in charge at Dunfermline and he will make a huge difference as he knows Scottish football inside out but I fear it is too late for Dunfermline. he has tried desperately to get a new keeper in, Spanish boy Bernardo Dominguez but doesn't look like it will be cleared in time. There keeper crisis has cost them many points as Smith is just not up to scratch which I have mentioned on numerous weeks. Dundee United will be strong for Dunfermline here.
Dundee United to be winning at HT looks a bet @2.05 (Stan James)

Hearts v Aberdeen

Hearts

Injuries -  Templeton, Kyle
Doubtful - McDonald
Available squad - MacDonald, Barr, Hamill, Grainger, McGowan, Webster, Zaliukas, Mrowiec, Robinson, Skacel, Elliott, Santana, Smith, Driver, Ridgers, Beattie, Black, Templeton.

Probable XI - Ridgers, Grainger, Webster, Zaliukas, Hamill, Driver, Black, Mrowiec, Skacel, Elliot, Beattie (4-4-2)

Aberdeen

Injuries - Fyvie, Milsom, Folly
Available Squad - Brown, Considine, McArdle, Reynolds, Arnason, Jack, Rae, Anderson, Vernon, Megginson, Chalali, Fallon, Langfield, Mackie, Mawene, Uchechi, Clark, Robertson, Pawlett, Magennis, Osbourne, Hughes

Probable XI - Brown, McArdle, Considine, Reynolds, Robertson, Jack, Arnason, Rae, Clark, Fallon, Vernon (4-4-2)

Prediction : Hearts 1-0 Aberdeen

It is vital Hearts field a strong team here I feel as Beattie, Black and Elliot all missed last weeks defeat at St Johnstone and we need them in the team. Hearts may well be missing keeper McDonald (who is 2nd choice anyway) and might have to go with Ridgers. Aberdeen will be looking to bounce back after lossing at home to Inverness which surprised me. Hearts home wins have become an absolute must as their away form is so poor.

Home win for me @2.1 (skybet)

St Mirren v Kilmarnock

St Mirren

Injuries - Barron, McLean
Available squad - Samson, Van Zanten, McAusland, Tesselaar, Mair, Carey, Imrie, Goodwin, McGowan, Teale, Thomson, Thompson, Hasselbaink, Smith, Mooy, Naismith, Reilly, Murray, McGregor

Probable XI - Samson, Van Zanten, McAusland, Mair, Tesselaar, Goodwin, McGowan, Teale, Imrie, Thompson, Hasselbaink (4-3-3)

Available Squad - Bell, Toshney, Hay, Fowler, Nelson, Kelly, Sissoko, Shiels, Gordon, Harkins, Johnson, Johnston, Van Tornhout, Gros, Letheren, Dayton, Racchi, Pursehouse, Kennedy

Probable XI - Bell, Toshney, Hay, Fowler, Nelson, Gordon, Harkins, Johnson, Dayton, Shiels, Van Tornhout (4-4-2)

Prediction : St Mirren 2-1 Kilmarnock

I am litterly begging for Kilmarnock to get beaten here! They are without Heffernan their main striker and have been playing a make shift midfield and defence for the last couple of weeks.
Dear Jim can you fix it for me......St Mirren to win @ 2.5 (William Hill) Sneaky punt on Hasselbaink anytime scorer @ 3.6 (Paddy Power)

Injuries - Severin, Mentel

Available Squad - Pernis, Dillon, Gunning, Neilson, Kenneth, Watson, Dixon, Douglas, Swanson, Armstrong, S Robertson, Ryan, Flood, Mackay-Steven, Rankin, Russell, Lacny, Daly, Dow, Banks

Probable XI - Esson, G. Shinnie, Tokely, Proctor, Piermayr, Hayes, McKay, Tansey, Ross, Tade, Foran (4-4-1-1)

Prediction : Dundee Utd 3 - 1 Inverness

Inverness are without a win in there last 5 games and I see this a tough place for them to seek a win. Dundee Utd are flying and seem to now have found their consistancy.

I like a HOME WIN here at 1.75 (Betfred) but for the brave I would risk DUNDEE UTD -1 on the asian handicap @ 2.25 (bet365)

Friday 2 March 2012

SPL - 3rd March Team News & Thoughts

Aberdeen v Celtic

Aberdeen

Injuries - Hughes, Paton, Clark, Osbourne, Anderson, Milsom, Folly

Available Squad - Brown, Considine, McArdle, Reynolds, Arnason, Jack, Fyvie, Vernon, Megginson, Chalali, Fallon, Langfield, Mackie, Mawene, Uchechi, Rae, Pawlett, Magennis

Probable Starting XI - Brown, McArdle, Considine, Reynolds, Mawene, Jack, Arnason, Rae, Fyvie, Fallon, Vernon (4-4-2)

Celtic

Injuries - Ki, Izaguirre, Juarez, Brown, Majstorovic

Available Squad - Forster, Matthews, Rogne, Kelvin Wilson, Mulgrew, Forrest, Commons, Wanyama, Stokes, Ledley, Samaras, Hooper, Cha, Zaluska, Brozek, McCourt, Blackman, McGeouch

Probable Starting XI - Forster, Mathews, Rogne, K Wilson, Mulgrew, Forrst, Wanyama, Ledley, Samaras, Hooper, Stokes (4-4-2)

Prediction : Aberdeen 1-2 Celtic

Tricky game for Celtic on what I imagine will be a bobbly pitch with half the beaches sand on it. Aberdeen have not actually been beaten since Christmas and have only conceded 5 goals this year. So it seems that old Craigy Broon has finally made his team solid enough. Will the Celtic players start to get a little complacent now that the league is over? Its a NO BET from me simply because Celtic are a rubbish price for what I see as a possible toughie. At first glance the Over 2.5 goals looked a gift but I will leave that alone just to be safe.

Dunfermline v Motherwell

Dunfermline

Injuries - Rutkiewicz, Phinn, Kerr, Turner, Bell, Gallacher

Available Squad - Smith, McMillan, Keddie, Boyle, Mason, Cardle, Hardie, Burns, Kirk, Graham, Buchanan, Goodfellow, Thomson, Byrne, Dowie, McCann, Barrowman, Hutton, Willis, McDougall

Probable Starting XI - Smith, McMillan, Keddie, McCann, Boyle, Cardle, Hardie, Graham, Thomson, Kirk, Barrowman (4-4-2)

Motherwell

Injuries - Saunders
Suspended - Lasley
Available Squad - Randolph, Hateley, Hutchinson, Clancy, Hammell, Law, Jennings, Murphy, Humphrey, Ojamaa, Higdon, Craigan, Daley, Forbes, Carswell, Page, Bradley, McHugh, Hollis

Probable Starting XI - Randolph, Hateley, Hutchison, Clancy, Hammell, Jennings Law, Daley, Murphy, Higdon, Ojamaa (4-4-2)

Prediction : Dunfermline 1-3 Motherwell

I can not believe my eyes at the odds here. OVER 2.5 goals @ 2.1 (Paddy Power) This seems to be an absolute steal given the free scoring football Motherwell are producing almost on a weekly basis. Bet of the year so far for me!

___________________________________________________________________

Hibs v St Mirren

Hibs

Injuries - Booth, Murray

Available Squad - Stack, Francomb, Hanlon, McPake, Stephens, Booth, Sproule, Wotherspoon, Stevenson, Scott, Osbourne, Doyle, Claros, Kujabi, O'Donovan, Doherty, O'Connor, Griffiths, Soares, Brown, Towell

Probable Starting XI - Stck, Francomb, Hanlon, McPake, Kujabi, Soares, Claros, Osbourne, Stevenson, Doherty, O'Donovan (4-4-2)

St Mirren

Injuries - McAusland, Tesselaar
Suspended - McGowan, Imrie
Available Squad - Samson, Van Zanten, Naismith, Mair, Barron, Steven Thomson, Teale, Goodwin, Carey, Steven Thompson, Hasselbaink, Reilly, Smith, Murray, Mooy, McLean, Scullion

Probable Starting XI - Samson, Van Zanten, Naismith, Mair, Barron, Teale, Goodwin, Carey, Thompson, Hasselbank, Thomson (4-4-2)

Prediction : Hibs 1-0 St Mirren

Can't believe I'm saying this but Hibs have actually surprised me in the last couple of matches albiet I did back them to win last week. They were really unlucky losing to Motherwell in a great 4-3 match were they were in the lead and they were good value for their 3-1 win away at Kilmarnock last week. So have Hibs turned the circle? Yes, I think the new boss has finally weeded out the shite and brought in some of his players. St Mirren have drawn their last 4 league matches and only managed 2 goals so they are showing signs of struggling in my book. I think a HOME WIN @ 2.25 (William Hill) is on the cards here (unfortunately...)

Kilmarnock v St Johnstone

Kilmarnock

Injuries - none

Available Squad - Bell, Fowler, Sissoko, Nelson, Toshney, Gordon, Johnson, Kelly, Buijs, Hay, Harkins, Van Tornhout, Shiels, Dayton, Kennedy, Heffernan, Letheren, Kroca, Racchi, McKeown

Probable Starting XI - Bell, Fowler, sissoko, Nelson, Hay Harkins, Buijs, Dayton, Shiels, Heffernan (4-4-1-1)

St Johnstone

Injuries - Morris

Available Squad - Mannus, Mackay, McCracken, Wright, Hart, C Davidson, Millar, Croft, M Davidson, Craig, Sheridan, Haber, Sandaza, Enckelman, Maybury, Oyenuga, Mitchell, Keatings, Stewart

Probable Starting XI - Mannus, Mackay, McCracken, Wright, C. Davidson, Millar, Croft, M. Davidson, Craig, Sandaza, Sheridan (4-4-2)

Prediction : Kilmarnock 1-1 St Johnstone

Killie have shipped 7 goals in their last 2 games so I expect them to be a bit tighter at the back this week. They have suffered 2 bad defeats in a row and will be looking to hit back but St Johnstone will make it hard. A draw looks the likely outcome here but with no great confidence. NO BET

___________________________________________________________________

Rangers v Hearts

Rangers

Injuries - Bartley, Lafferty, Whittaker, Naismith
Suspended - Edu, Papac
Available Squad - McGregor, Bocanegra, Goian, Broadfoot, Perry, Davis, McCulloch, Aluko, Hemmings, Kerkar, Celik, Little, Wylde, Bedoya, Healy, Alexander, McCabe, Wallace

Probable Starting XI - McGregor, Perry, Goian, Bocanegra, Broadfoot, Aluko, Davis,  Wylde, Wallace, McCulloch, Healy (4-4-1-1)

Hearts

Injuries - Templeton, Kello, Kyle

Available Squad - MacDonald, Barr, Hamill, Grainger, McGowan, Webster, Zaliukas, Mrowiec, Robinson, Skacel, Novikovas, Elliott, Obua, Santana, Smith, Glen, Taouil, Driver, Ridgers, Holt, Beattie, Black

Probable Starting XI - McDonald, Grainger, Webster, Zaliukas, Hamill, Driver, Mrowiec, Black, Skacel, Robinson, Elliot,  (4-5-1)

Prediction : Ranger 2-0 Hearts

Probably best taking a large slice of the HOME WIN @1.7 (Stan James). There is no doubt Rangers are really struggling this week (on the field I'm talking about) with Edu and Papac suspended and also Lee Wallace a slight doubt but I think this week they will get the win infront of 50,000 loyal fans that they were looking for 2 weeks ago versus Killie. Hearts are on a run of form that normally ends up with a new manager!!!! Hearts have only managed 1pt from the last 15pts available and now find themselves with a bit of a battle to stay in the top 6 come the split. Hearts have taken Beattie on loan and half of me thinks great as we only really had 1 striker but the other half of me knows he's unfit and not really the best!

I expect Hearts terrible away record to again be our down fall, just 2 away wins all season is tradgic!
